Asian lady beetles, also known as harlequin ladybirds, are a common species of beetle that were introduced to North America in the early 20th century as a biological control agent for aphids. While they may have initially been beneficial, Asian lady beetles have become a significant nuisance pest, invading homes and businesses in large numbers during the fall and winter months. 

Asian lady beetles can cause damage to fabrics, furniture, and other surfaces, and may trigger allergies or respiratory problems in sensitive individuals. In addition, their presence can be unsightly and unpleasant.
